Namju Cho oversees social marketing campaigns around environmental, housing and public health issues as a Project Manager at S. Groner Associates, a communications agency with a triple bottom-line philosophy that specializes in sustainable behavior change campaigns. Some of her clients have included the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Los Angeles Housing + Community Investment Department and the City of Los Angeles. Some of her projects have ranged from increasing recycling rates among multi-family residents in Culver City to preventing anglers from consuming contaminated fish caught in the Palos Verdes Shelf.
Ms. Cho has nearly 20 years of communications experience both as a staff reporter at the Wall Street Journal in Seoul and a public relations and marketing executive at several nonprofit organizations. While at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking, she brought attention to the issue of modern-day slavery and worked with trafficking survivors to speak up. Ms. Cho also promoted philanthropy and helped grant recipients and donors tell their stories of impact during her tenure as Director of Marketing & Communications at the California Community Foundation, which has more than $1 billion in assets.
A writer and passionate food lover at heart, Ms. Cho has freelanced for the Los Angeles Times, KCRW’s Good Food, KoreAm Journal and the Korean-language daily, Korea Times, where she writes a column. Ms. Cho studied journalism at Yonsei University and received a Masters in Public Policy with a concentration in gender and public health at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Born in Australia and raised in various countries, she speaks fluent Spanish and Korean.
