Sunny Sunjoo Cho is currently a Contract Management and Policy Development Assistant at Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP). Previously, she was a Fund Analyst and Project Coordinator for the Los Angeles Office of the City Clerk – Election Division. As a Project Coordinator, she was responsible for ensuring language accessibility for the limited English proficient voters, recruiting bilingual poll workers and increasing Angelenos’ civic participation by providing culturally and linguistically competent service. Sunny had diverse work experience in human rights, immigrant rights and gendered violence issues.
Prior to joining the City of Los Angeles, she worked as the Interim Emergency Program Coordinator and a Women’s Advocate at the Center for the Pacific Asian Family. The Center for the Pacific Asian Family is a nationally recognized organization for its pioneering work in domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse services in the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Islander community. Sunny is a graduate of University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in Psychology and Asian Studies and a minor in Asian American Studies. While at UCR, she organized around addressing violence against women of color: poverty, militarism, prostitution and gendered violence. Her interests and commitment have always been in serving organizations that are dedicated to empowering and providing services and advocacy to underserved communities.
