Jun H. Choi was most recently the elected Mayor of Edison Township, New Jersey, a community of over 100,000 people and the 5th largest municipality in the State. Prior to his elected position, Mayor Choi worked on education policy as Executive Director of a Student Achievement Task Force at the New Jersey Department of Education. Beyond education, Mayor Choi’s background includes a range of experiences in government, private and non-profit sectors. Prior to his position at the Department of Education, he held positions at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. He also worked as a management consultant for Ernst & Young LLP advising Fortune 500 companies on business and technology strategy. In the non-profit sector, Mayor Choi co-founded a leadership development and education organization which identifies, trains and mentors talented young adults, encouraging them to enter careers in public service.
Mayor Choi earned his Bachelor’s of Science from the MIT and his Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Columbia University. He is a Leadership New Jersey (Class of 2003) fellow and has taught economics and public policy as an adjunct professor. Mayor Choi enjoys traveling and reading. As a pilot who wanted to become an astronaut before entering public service, he is occasionally seen flying airplanes. He grew up and resides in Edison, New Jersey.
